MCC Panels
MCC Panel
MCC stands for motor control center. It consists of feeders for motors and blowers. Feeders are designed according to the motor rating. In most of the MCCs, auto/manual provision will be there. With manual provision motors can be operated manually. In auto provision external signal is required to start the motor. The signal is given by the control panel. Indicators for the motor operation also will be present in control panel. A motor control center (MCC) is an assembly of one or more enclosed sections having a common power bus and principally containing motor control units. Motor control centers are in modern practice a factory assembly of several motor starters. A motor control center can include variable frequency drives, programmable controllers, and metering and may also be the electrical service entrance for the building.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
RST-MCC “Motor Control Center” switchboards are designed for use in power distribution and particulary for the control and protection of electrical motors. The different versions and the ideal use of the structure make these switchboards perfectly adaptable to any application and offer the degree of protection that is best suited to the installation’s operational and environmental conditions. The metal casting is made in a standardized modular steel structure, completely segrergated, that can be easly expandend and comprises the following main parts:
- Incoming line module
- Auxiliary switchboards and feeder module
- Motor starter and feeder module
- Compartment for horizontal main bars
- Compartment for vertical distribution bars
- Compartment for interpanel connection auxiliary circuits
- Compartment for power cables
- Compartements for withdravable module
- Protection against fire is insured by the use of self-extinguishing insulating materials and internal metal plates.
Fixed interlocks for each single module are:
- Mechanical interlock that prevents the opening of a live module
- Electrical lock that activates contact-breaker at the start of switch operation
- Padlocks to be inserted into switch handle
- In addiction for Withdrawable modules
Interlock that prevents withdrawal of live module
